My Microsoft HoloLens has Arrived! Let’s Unbox it

As most of you in the tech world know, Microsoft has been working on a kick-ass holographic computer technology in the form of the Microsoft HoloLens.  Well, I am extremely excited to announce that my very own personal Microsoft HoloLens Developer Edition just arrived today.  I could tell that Microsoft put a little extra thought into the packaging and unboxing experience.

When the package first arrived it was in an unmarked box, which is probably a good thing.  As soon as you open the initial incognito shell of a box, you are met with a very beautiful shrink wrapped box.

As you can see, the box is extremely reflective due to the shrink wrap surrounding it.  So let’s remove the shrink wrap so that we can check out the awesome packaging.

Now you can see more of a matte finish with a very nice reflective outlines of the HoloLens.  It’s hard to see in this picture, but as you move your viewing angle, the colors in the HoloLens outline change colors.  Very nice touch!

I would also like to mention that a nice little HoloLens friendly clicker was provided as well.

Once I started opening the HoloLens box, the anticipation was really killing me.  I was then met with a very cool case.

This seems like a very good quality case and should protect the HoloLens during my travels.  Yes, I will be traveling with this!  How else will I demo it in my talks?  So, let’s open up the case and see what we have.

Man… that is just sick!  I am super excited to have a HoloLens to play with.  I know this post wasn’t very heavy in actual content, but I just wanted to share the initial unboxing experience as I was actually unboxing it.  You can expect to see more and more blog posts on developing for the HoloLens and my experiences with it, both good and bad.
